This is a historical novel, a novel of facts. The characters and the plot are fiction, but historical events and political figures are real. It is set against a dramatic revolution in Iran whcih led to the overthrow of the shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and the rise of Ayatollah Khomeini to power in 1979.
